Nothing blocking the view. No cracks, scratches or excess tint.

Windscreen wipers and washers

Present, undamaged, working. Washer fluid topped up.

Dashboard warning lights and gauges

Instruments, gauges and warning lights working, including ABS and EBS.

Steering

No excessive play or lift. Power steering working, no jamming.

Horn

Works, and reachable from the driving seat.

Brakes and air build-up

Air builds correctly, warning system works, no leaks, footwell clear.

Height marker

Correct height displayed; re-checked after loading or a fifth-wheel change.

Seatbelts

No cuts or fraying, latch securely, retract fully.

Cab, doors and steps

Mountings and tilt devices secure. Doors close and hold. Steps safe.

Lights and indicators

All working, lenses fitted, clean, correct colour. Stop lamps go out on release.

Fuel and oil leaks

Filler cap fitted. Engine running, check underneath for leaks.

Security of body and wings

Fastenings work, panels secure, sideguards and rear under-run fitted where required.

Battery security and condition

Secure, sound, not leaking.

Diesel exhaust fluid (AdBlue)

Enough for the shift. Top up if needed.

Exhaust smoke

No excessive smoke.

High voltage emergency cut-off

Know where it is, confirm it works, components secure and undamaged.

Alternative fuel systems and isolation

Know where the isolation switch is. No leaks, visible components sound.

Spray suppression

Where required: fitted, secure, undamaged, not clogged with mud.

Tyres and wheel fixing

Tread 1mm+, no cord or deep sidewall cuts, correct pressures, nuts tight, indicators unmoved, nothing between twins.

Brake lines and trailer parking brake

Couplings clean and seated, no leaks, lines undamaged, trailer park brake holds.

Electrical connections

Wiring insulated, not likely to snag. Couplings secure. Switches work.

Coupling security

Trailer correctly located in the fifth wheel. Secondary locking in position.

ISO 7638 ABS/EBS lead

Undamaged and correctly connected. Without it the trailer EBS will not function.

Security of load

Load will not move. Correct securing system for what you are carrying.

Number plate

Complete, correct, clean, legible, not obscured.

Reflectors

Present, unbroken, secure, correct colour, not obscured.

Markings and warning plates

Conspicuity markings correct and visible. Hazard panels correct for the load.

Other equipment

Anything specific to this vehicle: tail lift, crane, fridge unit, ADR kit.
